Olivet Seminary Releases New Course: ‘Preaching of The Narratives of The Bible’

Olivet Seminary has launched a new course titled ‘Preaching of The Narratives of The Bible,’ taught by Dr. Timothy Yap. As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening its curriculum, the course equips students to prepare faithful expository sermons from biblical narrative passages, emphasizing careful exegesis, sensitivity to narrative flow, and responsible application to contemporary audiences.

This course introduces students to the unique challenges and opportunities of preaching biblical narratives, with particular focus on Old Testament narrative texts. Students will gain a solid understanding of the purpose, function, and literary components of biblical storytelling, and learn how these narratives communicate theological truth within their historical and canonical contexts.

Consisting ten lectures, the course explores how biblical narratives shape Christian theology and inform daily living, equipping students to preach these texts with clarity, depth, and pastoral relevance.
